Supported Independent Living
What is Supported Independent Living (SIL)?
Supported Independent Living (SIL) is an NDIS support where you can live with other people with a disability or on your own in the community. You will also receive support with everyday tasks.
Our Aim
-
We offer 24/7 support with opportunities for capacity building to improve daily living and other skills while encouraging independence and ensuring your individual support needs are met.
-
We will support you with daily living tasks including; cleaning, personal care, preparing meals, medication, appointments, and any other daily tasks you may need.
-
You will be supported to be actively involved in the running of your home and making decisions with your housemates.
What is the Difference between SIL and SDA?
Supported Independent Living (SIL) is the essential support you receive at home, to allow you to live independently. It applies to people with a disability who require access to 24/7 support.
Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) is a type of housing designed for people who have very high support needs and require specialist housing solutions like ceiling hoists, automatic doors and other major physical adjustments to their living space.
How can I get Supported Independent Living (SIL) in my NDIS plan?
-
If you’ve identified housing as a goal with your NDIS planner, the NDIS will fund supports for you to consider and explore your options with a Support Coordinator (COS).
-
Our COS team can work with you to source suitable, affordable accommodation
How can I get started?
Once you’ve provided us with written confirmation from your planner of your SIL eligibility and support level we will work closely with you to explore your options for a SIL arrangement with us.
The NDIS will fund your support within the home, and you will need to pay rent and utilities, as well as your everyday living expenses
"I have been living in Amazing ProCare’s housing for over 18 months now. The APC team is very friendly, supportive and professional. They listen to my concerns and provide assistance during challenging moments. I would highly recommend APC SIL houses to anyone seeking such accommodations."

Over time, your needs might change. You may need more or less home care support, or support with different activities. We continuously monitor and review the services we provide to make sure your needs are being met. If, at any time, it does not meet your needs and goals, we can work with you to review support services and make changes that you want.
